A water polo league that counts itself.

Rankelo is a free water polo league app for clubs and pool leagues. Name the teams, and every fixture is generated when the league opens. Scores go in after the match and the table applies the points, the goals for and against and the difference.

Water Polo on Rankelo

What a water polo league looks like here.

Rankelo is built around a sport abstraction: every sport brings its own scoring rules, and the leagues, fixtures and standings work the same whatever you play. This is what water polo brings.

Four quarters, one score

A water polo match runs to four periods, and Rankelo records the aggregate. The result is stored as a list of periods with one period in it, so a by-quarter breakdown is an addition later rather than a different sport.

Goal difference that means something

A match finishing 11-9 makes a two-goal difference worth reading, where the same margin in floorball is noise. Goals for and against go in on every result, so the column is doing real work by the third fixture.

Draws count, from the first fixture

A level score is a legal result worth a point. The drawn column is shown because water polo allows draws rather than because one has happened — so a table does not change shape mid-season.

League types

  • Water Polo— a named team per side

A team is a name that competes — it carries its own record, and squad size is not modelled.

How it works

From idea to water polo standings in four steps.

  1. 1

    Create a league

Pick water polo, name the teams, choose the points system, and set how many times each pairing meets — twice if the pool is booked for a home-and-away season.

  2. 2

    Add the players

A name is enough — they do not need an account. Add an email too and they link to their own match history automatically the day they register.

  3. 3

    Open the league

Rankelo generates the fixtures for every pairing, once or as many times as you set. If the roster changes later the schedule reconciles — matches already played are kept.

  4. 4

    Play

Someone enters 11-9 on the poolside. The points, the goals and the difference update before the teams are out of the water.

Scoring & standings

How water polo is scored in Rankelo.

A water polo result is the score on the board when the fourth quarter ends: one goal total per side, the higher one wins, a level score is a draw. That puts it in the aggregate-score family with football, and it borrows football's scoring outright — the numbers are smaller and the game is played in quarters rather than halves, but neither is something a final score records.

One aggregate scoreA single total per side, and the higher one wins — the only family where a level score can count.

Points systems a water polo league can pick from

Chosen per league, and changeable at any time — switch it and every match already played is re-scored.

  • 3 for a win, 1 for a draw, nothing for a loss (default)
  • 2 for a win, 1 for a draw, nothing for a loss
  • 1 for a win, nothing for a loss

Exclusions and the man-up they create, the five-metre penalty and the shot clock are not modelled. They are most of what a water polo coach thinks about and none of what a final score records — the same line Rankelo draws at padel's golden point and badminton's service rotation.

Standings that follow your rules

Three points for a win and one for a draw, then head-to-head, goal difference and goals scored — applied the moment a result is entered.

Automatic fixtures

Every pairing × your chosen number of meetings, generated in one click when the league opens.

Players without accounts

Add someone by name and the league can start right away. They register with the same email later and pick up their matches.

FAQ

Water Polo leagues, answered.

Not yet. A result is one goal total per side, stored as a list of periods with one period in it — so a by-quarter format is an addition rather than a rewrite when someone wants the split.
