A basketball standings table that runs itself.

Rankelo is a free basketball league app for rec leagues, schools and workplaces. Name the teams, and every fixture is generated when the league opens. Someone enters the final score and the table applies the FIBA rule, the points for and against, and the difference.

Basketball on Rankelo

What a basketball league looks like here.

Rankelo is built around a sport abstraction: every sport brings its own scoring rules, and the leagues, fixtures and standings work the same whatever you play. This is what basketball brings.

No draws — overtime decides

Organised basketball replays overtime until somebody wins, so a completed box score is never level and Rankelo refuses one. A rec league that skips overtime can switch draws on.

The FIBA 2-1 rule

Two points for a win, one for a loss: a defeat scores, a no-show does not. It is the FIBA and EuroLeague convention, and it is what a new league starts on.

Points for and against

Every result carries both totals, so point difference separates teams level on record without anyone working it out.

League types

  • Basketball— a named team per side

A team is a name that competes — it carries its own record, and squad size is not modelled.

How it works

From idea to basketball standings in four steps.

  1. 1

    Create a league

Pick basketball, name the teams, choose the points system, and set how many times each pairing meets.

  2. 2

    Add the players

A name is enough — they do not need an account. Add an email too and they link to their own match history automatically the day they register.

  3. 3

    Open the league

Rankelo generates the fixtures for every pairing, once or as many times as you set. If the roster changes later the schedule reconciles — matches already played are kept.

  4. 4

    Play

Someone enters 78-71 after the game. The record, the points for and against and the difference all update on the spot.

Scoring & standings

How basketball is scored in Rankelo.

Basketball belongs to the aggregate-score family: one point total per side and the higher one wins. What separates it from the goal sports beside it is that a level score is not a result — which is a rule about the sport, not about the arithmetic, and one a league can overrule.

One aggregate scoreA single total per side, and the higher one wins — the only family where a level score can count.

  • Full match — One score for the game. Scores by quarter are a later addition.

Points systems a basketball league can pick from

Chosen per league, and changeable at any time — switch it and every match already played is re-scored.

  • 2 for a win, 1 for a loss — the FIBA rule (default)
  • 1 for a win, nothing for a loss
  • 3 for a win, 1 for a loss
  • 3 for a win, 1 for a draw — for a league that has switched draws on
  • 2 for a win, 1 for a draw — same

Box scores and individual statistics are outside what Rankelo sets out to do: it runs the league table — fixtures, results, standings — and the result is the score.

Features

Everything a basketball league actually needs.

Standings that follow your rules

Two points for a win and one for a loss by default, then head-to-head, point difference and points scored — the FIBA table, recalculated on every result.

Automatic fixtures

Every pairing × your chosen number of meetings, generated in one click when the league opens.

Players without accounts

Add someone by name and the league can start right away. They register with the same email later and pick up their matches.

Public standings

Share a link and anyone can open the table — no login, no account, nothing to install.

On your phone, in your language

Enter the score where you played it. The app runs in English and Slovenian, light or dark.

Traceable results

Every entry records who submitted it and when. Corrections go through a league admin, so the table never quietly changes.

FAQ

Basketball leagues, answered.

Not by default. Organised basketball replays overtime until someone wins, so a level score is refused when it is entered. A recreational league that does not play overtime can switch draws on for that league, and the draw presets then become worth choosing.
